If you are one of the lucky few able to read this, congrats, I'm about to let you in on a secret.
Your life is more amazing than you think.
How is that possible? Let me explain.
Whenever we compare, we naturally compare with the people around us right? The Jones down the street with their fancy new car and their stupid big house. The Smiths with their fancy private jet and their once-a-month vacations to Europe. It's enough to make anyone nauseated, but c'mon, unless you personally enjoy inflicting pain on yourself, why not try a different tactic?
Who you should really be comparing yourself to are dead people.
Specifically, the vast amount of dead people that came before you. When you look at all of human history and apply the right comparison, you... immediately rise to the top and become one of the luckiest mofos to have ever lived.
Sure, you may not be in the top echelon of all humans today, but you are indeed without a doubt, among the top humans to have ever existed in all time.
Because the simple fact is this.
If you can read this, that means you likely have
a phone or a computer and
access to the internet.
It also means you can read, (which is no small feat). This means you likely had a formal education.
That then means you likely have a bunch of other things in your life the vast majority of humans did not and likely did not even know to dream of having.
Because they simply didn’t think it was possible.
It's estimated that 117 billion people have ever been alive on this little rock hurling through space we call Earth.
You are among the 8 billion people alive today.
According to data from DataReportal.com, there are about 5.52 billion people with access to the internet in the world today. 5.52 billion out of 117 billion is 4.7%.
Sure, your life may not always feel amazing; you probably don't feel as excited about it as you should. Maybe you barely notice it. That's unfortunate, because Billions of dead people (with a capital B) would've traded spaces with you in a heart beat.
Let's look at this fancy, highly scientific graph shall we? Why does this graph matter? Because this is evidence staring straight at you in the face - the secret to becoming happier. It's literally right there.
