A liminal space is a transitional or in-between place or state, such as a waiting room, an empty hallway or a door leading to nothing.

In pop culture, it’s taken a whole life of it’s own and imagined as literally the only space. Because when it becomes the only space, it sort of reveals the irony of a destination-less destination. And the end result is that of eeriness… a feeling of being unsettled. These places feel off because they seem so mundane and familiar, and yet, when removed of context, become entirely absurd.

Why do I bring that up?

Because it doesn’t just have to be a physical space. It can take on a form related to time as well.

In fact, there are actually three types of time.

First type of time is what I call liminal time.
